Jonathan Mei winner of MostArts Young Pianists Competition

Fifteen-year-old Jonathan Mei of Charleston, SC is the 2024 Grand Prize Winner in Alfred University’s MostArts Young Pianist Competition. Mei, a student at Charleston’s Academic Magnet High School, took home a $10,000 prize at the conclusion of the MostArts Festival, in Alfred, NY, Saturday, July 20.


Mei studies piano with Dr. Marina Lomazov.  International jurors for the MostArts Young Pianist Competition included Ayiya Korepanova, Lucy Mauro, and Anthony Pattin. 

In addition to his $10,000 prize, Mei has earned an opportunity to become a Young Steinway Artist and has received also an invitation to return to Alfred University for the opening Gala Concert at the MostArts Festival next July 2025.

 The MostArts Festival celebrated its tenth anniversary this year, ending a decade in which the Festival dedicated itself to celebrating the classical music tradition. The Festival was founded by Alfred University Professor Music Lisa Lantz, who continues as its artistic director.
